ACTIVITIES
Walking
With miles and miles of unspoilt forest and woodlands, the Creuse is an ideal place for those wanting to spend time just exploring the countryside on foot. There are a varying degree of walks from 1 to 5 hours which will take in all of the local beauty spots including the "Forest of Chabrieres", the Creuse valley and all of the surrounding area. We would be more than happy to give you as much information as you need whilst you are here and walking maps are available for you to use during your stay. However if you would like to purchase some maps, please see the link on our "links" page.
Cycling
The Creuse is a cyclists paradise. The open roads and the lack of cars mean that potential cyclists can explore the area as quickly or slowly as they choose. Road cycling, off-roading and VTT tracks are all available in the area and easily identified. With cycling being one of the major leisure pastimes in France, every effort is made to make a cyclist's stay in the area as pleasurable as possible. There are numerous planned circuits to choose from starting from 4kms to 67kms - - maps are available to borrow or just pop into the tourist office. There are numerous cycling shops in Gueret that will cater to all your requirements.
Fishing
Fishing is widely catered for in the Creuse - there is a federation which solely caters for fishing. You can exlore the regional on a individual basis by deciding where you would like to fish and purchasing a "Carte de Peche" or you can book a guide who will spend time with you and take you to the best fishing spots. Again, we have maps of the rivers and lakes where you can fish and where to buy your "carte" which you are welcome to use during your stay.
There are many other activities to choose from including horse riding, swinging in trees, visiting some châteaux, or of course you can just relax on a beach, sit in a street café and watch the world go by.
